Jerry Ghionis is widely considered as one of the best wedding and portrait photographers the world. He’s also a Nikon Ambassador and was named by PDN Magazine as one of the top photography instructors in the world. Jerry is WPPI’s most awarded photographer and first Grand Master.
Jerry has been a professional photographer for over 3 decades and been teaching fellow professionals for over 23 years.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

  • As a master at posing, Jerry will share his posing techniques with live demonstrations that will keep you from running out of poses ever again. He will demonstrate how he directs his clients to achieve fun and fashionable images including specific poses for plus size men, women and couples, as well as odd height couples and couples that don't want to be posed. Jerry will show you how to create cool and relaxed portraits of men and women and how to make them shine brighter than ever before. Jerry will share his ideas on how to create more relaxed group portraits and more intimate family portraits as well.

  • Jerry will simplify your approach to lighting and help you understand it better. He will show you how to create images with harsh sunlight, window light, open shade, candlelight, flash (on camera and off camera), LED lights, reflectors and non-conventional light sources resulting in striking images. Jerry will liberate you from the gear that you thought you needed and also help you understand when to use the appropriate lighting tools for the more effective results. Jerry will teach you how to recognize good light, create good light and how to turn so-called bad light into lighting that has depth, dimension and drama.

  • One of things that separate Jerry’s work from others is his strong sense of composition and his clever in-camera cropping. Jerry will offer his unique perspective on powerful composition and cropping that will give your work an edge that will make your work stand out.

  • Jerry will demonstrate how he brings out the best in his subjects and locations in a live shoot. You will see Jerry create amazing portraits in front of your eyes with models as he shows you how to pose purposefully and create luxurious light. He will articulate his thought process, technique and complete his vision with his in camera artistry. Watch and learn the art that comes before Photoshop. You will be able to see Jerry’s EVF with a portable monitor that is brought on location for an incredible learning experience.

  • We limit each workshop to a maximum of 20 students to provide the best and most customized learning experience and

  • Workshops may vary in price with different inclusions and may be in different currencies. Visit each workshop to determine the exact price.

    A 50% registration fee will secure your place to the workshop. The balance is payable a month before the workshop.

    If you cancel more than a month before workshop, you may use your payment towards a future workshop.

    If you cancel within a month of workshop, you will unfortunately forfeit your payments.

  • All payments are non-refundable. But if you are unable to attend a workshop and let us know more than a month before it begins, you can transfer your payment to a future workshop.

  • Flights and accomodations are not included with your tuition.

  • Tea, coffee, water and light snacks are included. Some workshops may include certain meals but please read the description for each workshop to understand the details for your workshop.

  • Yes, the principles behind what Jerry teaches applies to anyone that photographs people. There are only a few times during the workshop that Jerry discusses specifics about wedding photography. He will also be guided by the wants and needs of the group.

  • Yes, the principles behind what Jerry teaches applies to anyone that photographs people. He will expand your range and show you how to consider adding portraits to your offerings and give you the tools to implement it.

  • Jerry has designed this workshop to teach you what he wishes he learned at the start of his career. You will learn from his successes and mistakes. There is no need to “clean house before the cleaner comes,” so to speak. If you are a beginner photographer, you will have the opportunity to learn how do things in the best way and not have to learn through mistakes.

  • Whether you’ve been photographing for 5 years or for over 10 years, this workshop is for you. Perhaps you’ve never had a mentor or learned how to price and market yourself. You could be leaving money on the table and not even know it. Perhaps you’re burnt out and need a reset and some inspiration. Even if your clients are happy with your work, you may not be. Jerry has an innate ability to help new and experienced photographers alike.

  • Yes. 3 days of the workshop are devoted to the art and craft of photography. 2 days is devoted to the business of photography. Even if this is a hobby for you, you can still learn how to monetize your photography so that at the very least it can pay for itself?

  • Users of all camera systems are welcome. A mirrorless or DSLR camera with interchangeable lenses is the minimum kit that would be recommended for this workshop.

  • This workshop will be presented in English.

  • This workshop is not structured to be a portfolio building workshop. Most students that learn the most, do so without a camera in their hands. You will have a brief opportunity to photograph individually but remember that you can photograph on your own anytime. But you rarely get to see how Jerry shoots in-person.

  • Bring your camera with 2 or 3 of your favorite lenses. You will not need any speed lights, strobes. constant lights or reflectors.

    Please bring a laptop, memory cards and a card reader to download and view your images.

    Notepads and pens will be provided for you.
